Performance - "Music is Special"

Musicians
 

Music composers William Carslake and Patrick Stokebridge were the leaders of the project. They used a lot of their knowledge on working with children to guide me. I observed their approach and techniques which allowed the children to experiment, as they were guiding them and letting them express their thoughts through musical instruments. I adopted many of their techniques as a starting point and it helped me with my approach towards the children.
On this collaboration the composers had a bigger saying on the project than the designer ,who had to work according to their decisions.

Deaf Schools, Teachers and Kids

Working with the Deaf Schools,Frank Barnes and Blanche Nevile, was an strong experience and development point for me personally and for my practise.The teachers from both Schools were amasingly friendly, open and ready to listen to our needs and ideas. From Frank Barnes my relationship with the teachers and children was less close than the one on Blanche Nevile. I observed that FB was highly professional, well organised but a bit more restrictive on how free the kids were to express and experiement. On the other hand BN was less organised and professional but the children were much more free to experiment and express themselves. Although both schools had a very unique approach to the children, I felt the BN school was closer to my approah and way of communication.

Central Saint Martins Designers

We were a group of 6 designers from the Performance Design and Practice course collaborating with 6 different dissability schools. In order to work effectively we were split into teams of two, each team working with two different schools. We had the opportunity to choose the schools we prefered to work in ourselves, in relation to our interests and practice. Working in teams of two was an efficient idea, as it was easier to communicate and organise art classes and produce final outcomes for the children. On the other hand,  it was hard to organise and produce something similar as a group of designers working wIth so many different schools.

  • Conduction of art workshops for the Deaf students, in order to engage, experience and express themselves through performance design and practice.

     

  • Getting inspired from the Deaf children's designs and art pieces in order to produce costumes for the final performance show

Film - "What do you see?"

Character Designer

Working with Lilian Theodosopoulou on the conceptual approach and the character designs for the Animation Film.

The collaboration involved: Everyday communication, ideas sharing and experimentations at the beginning of the project, which helped a lot on the sharing of the same final idea. We experimented and shared our skills and knowledge areas with eachother in order to work effeciently and quickly.

Music composer

Music composer Kristian was guided by me to create a melody would accompany the film. I asked for his help and skills after i had created most of the parts of the animation and script, so he would be able to visualise the exact style I wanted. Although I was satisfied with our overall collaboration, it was sometimes hard to meet and thus we didn't manage to experiment on different styles.

Psychologist

Psychologist Debbie Hatzivassiliou was the person who assisted me with the difficult subject matter for my concept and verified my theory and the main science behind the psychological factors I used in my story.

Virtual Reality

First time working with Virtual Reality filming, collaborating with project manager Jocelyn Anquetil from the Virtual Reality Filming company 'I was There', and producer Aylish Selkirk from Central Saint Martins

  • Devising a story, creating characters and designing costumes
     

  • Working for the first time as director and leader of a project, organising people from different disiplines in order to form a team.
     

  • Animating the characters using programs  I was not familiar with before this project.
